GNU social began as a spin-off from GNU FM in 2010, and has many hundreds of thousands of users, including the Free Software Foundation.

We were featured in web pioneer, Tim Berners-Lee's article in Scientific American -- Long Live the Web

As a continuation of the StatusNet project, GNU social has a rich codebase.

Join us at GNU's 30th birthday as we launch a brand new social network just for the GNU Project!

You can join us at the event, or online at #social on Freenode.
