LibrePlanet 2022: Workshops

(Archive) Theme: Living Liberation

LibrePlanet is the annual conference hosted by the Free Software Foundation. LibrePlanet provides an opportunity for community activists, domain experts, and people seeking solutions for themselves to come together in order to discuss current issues in technology and ethics. The theme for LibrePlanet 2022 is "Living Liberation."

All of us communicate the importance of technological freedom, both in terms of educating newcomers about the crucial implications of the free software philosophy, and sustaining all those who contribute to the liberation of technology. All of us play a role in creating free software: developing it, distributing it, and spreading both its code and underlying message. From the beginning of the movement, and every day, users have supplanted technological oppression with empowerment. This year's theme is about urging people to continue to make free software part of their daily lives, one decision at a time. LibrePlanet speakers will be sharing their knowledge and experience to help drive this progress further, and teach how to **live liberation.**

Activities

Free Software Awards

The dedication of the developers, documentation writers, community organizers, and volunteers of the free software movement is what has helped us all live liberation in the years the free software movement has been active. Just using free software makes you part of our collective journey to freedom, but some go above and beyond in their dedication to the free software movement. Now, it's time for us to show those community members and projects that we appreciate their vital work.

Resources

Technical

Social

The main conference in 2022 will be held online. In case it is possible to hold in person event, we might add them to the program, and in that case, international satellite events would be encouraged.

The FSF will continue to monitor public health notifications, and will follow the guidelines of the City of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We care about people's safety as much as their freedom, and this will remain our priority.

We will update our plans for socializing at a later stage, but feel free to add your own (safe) events here.
