FSF Groups Wiki

Please remember that this wiki is focused on free software, not open source. Also be mindful of the power of words and the importance of framing the issues we discuss and work on in the best possible terms.

Getting Started

One of the purposes of the Groups Wiki is to connect free software supporters with each other. Please feel free to add yourself to the appropriate Main_Page#Regions regional group page (region, country, province/state, & city). Please feel free to divide up these regions into smaller ones as the lists grow, to add new ways of organizing people, and new ideas for free software campaigns and issues that we should all be acting on.

If you are organizing a free software event, or attending an event at which you can distribute materials about free software. Please write to us to request materials at info@fsf.org

For examples of the rules for some tactics, see Power Tactics.

Please see the Activism Guide for effective action.

Join others and get involved in planning and helping priority projects.

Regions

History

This wiki was started during the 2006 FSF Associate Member Meeting to help organize ways to bring free software as a movement "into the mainstream."

We started by organizing the FSF members at the 2006 meeting into groups based on geography. They then brainstormed ideas for how to organize people around issues central to the free software movement, and posted those ideas on a wiki page titled after their region. You can read those ideas on the pages linked to from the 2006 Member Meeting page.
