They discuss issues in #fsf-licensing on freenode with the FSF licensing staff in order to help the free software community to better understand licensing. Volunteers can also take on various licensing related projects, like helping import licenses from our license list into the Free Software Directory. Note that volunteers (even if they are lawyers) are not permitted or asked to give legal advice as part of their volunteer work. November's featured resource: 2013 LibrePlanet Conference

The LibrePlanet conference is a yearly gathering of the global free software community.The next conference will take place March 23rd-24th 2013 in Cambridge, MA, with some events tentatively planned for the evening of Friday the 22nd. Registration has not opened yet, but you can visit the page to stay up-to-date on conference details and make suggestions for lightning talks.

LibrePlanet conferences

There have been four LibrePlanet conferences so far, and a fifth conference is planned for 2013.
  • LibrePlanet2012 — a two day conference in Boston, MA at the University of Massachusetts.
  • LibrePlanet2011 — a one day conference in Boston, MA at Bunker Hill Community College.
  • LibrePlanet2010 — a two day conference, with an extra day for a GNU Hackers Meeting and workshops. Also at the Harvard Science Center.
  • LibrePlanet2009 – a one day conference at Harvard Science Center, in Cambridge, MA.
