My name is Robert Thoelen.  I've been a GNU/Linux user since 1996 when I first installed a Slackware distribution.  Since then, I've experimented with several GNU/Linux distributions, as well as FreeBSD and OpenBSD.  I am a systems/software engineer during the day for a large aerospace company, and at night I help businesses and people with web technologies and administrate several virtual and dedicated servers.

I'm finishing up a Master's Degree in Software Engineering from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.  Once I get done with this, I hope to turn my attention to creating some toolkits for GNU Octave, and maybe contribute to the codebase.  I have an interest in Software and Systems Engineering, and I think that GNU Octave could really help engineers who can't afford the very expensive and proprietary systems engineering and mathematical programs.
