About Us
LibrePlanet Nebraska is dedicated to the betterment of computing--and society--through the use of Free Software. Recognizing the breadth and depth of this task, members are encouraged to discover and share their interest in various problem domains where Free Software has made (or can make) an impact, including:
- Operating Systems: For example, GNU/Linux, GNU/Hurd
- Programming Languages: Various, including PHP, Perl, Python, GNU C, GNU/MIT Scheme, GNU Guile, etc.
- Productivity Software: LibreOffice, GNUStep, GNOME, emacs ;)
- Application Platforms: e.g. PostGres, Drupal, Joomla, CouchDB, Apache, etc.
Goals
- Educate the public about Free Software
- Share experiences and technologies between members
- Support organizations and businesses in their use of Free Software
- Edify its members by creating connections and providing informal social gatherings
- Advocate the use of Free Software in Midwestern organizations whenever possible.
