Located in Boston's Chinatown, easily accessible to the Orange and Green T Lines

About the speakers

Walter Bender is the founder and executive director of Sugar Labs, whose mission is to produce, distribute, and support the use of the free software Sugar learning platform. Bender is past-president for software and content development of One Laptop per Child, a not-for-profit association that has put free-software education tools into the hands of more than one-million children worldwide. Before taking his leave of absence from MIT, Bender was executive director of the MIT Media Laboratory, where he encouraged the use of the GPL.

Laura Quilter is a 5-year information law attorney, a 15-year librarian, and a 20-year geek. Most recently she has become a parent, and is splitting her time between coding the infant with language, writing about copyright, teaching about intellectual freedom, and geeking about. She's a wikipedia administrator and administers several wordpress blogs and multiple mediawiki installs.

Steve Pomeroy is a mobile telecommunications hacker and free software developer, exploring the new ways that we will be communicating with one another. He studied computer language construction and computer security at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He currently works at the MIT Mobile Experience Lab, designing and developing future interactions with mobile communication devices.
