As cars contain more and more software, we are faced with the issue of who controls this software.

As Richard Stallman says, " 'Biometric cars' will monitor their users in many ways, and of course the data will be warehoused for companies to hand to the NSA via PRISM. We must insist on free software in our cars."[1]

There is also the issue of DRM and car manufacturers being able to remotely shut down or control your car. This is already done by car company Renault.
