Manchester Free Software Minutes

Last Meeting

The minutes of 9th March 2009 were read and approved as correct.


Room Booking

The group has talks for April,May, June July but no rooms booked. In the recent poll, the majority of votes were to leave the MDDA. Jonathon had heard of a group called Community Foundation who may be able to offer rooms. Dave suggested Nexus Art cafe as a potential venue. Revolution (Deansgate Locks) was also suggested. Tim suggested the BBC. Simon suggested vacant offices at his place of employment and also the possibility of hiring the board room at a cost of £50. Group would need a projector. Dave suggested if we met at the Uni a friendly society could book the rooms for free. Lucy to send poll to list. Dave to talk to Openmedia Student Society.


Speakers

Tim has chased Glynn Wistle, has tentatively agreed to do talk. Lucy has chased John Adams and Dan Lynch. Michael to confirm Chris Warbuton talk date. Dave to arrange student society to book Uni room for October. Tim to talk to Microsoft guy.


Books

Michael to divide up books for distribution amongst group members. The group to consider setting up an online store. Matthew L to email Uni Students when term time starts.


Banking

No progress on Banking.


Marbella Cafe

The group awaits instructions from Janey of MCC (formerley Marbella)


The Arcspace Project

18th April is the lauch date of Arcspace, members of the group will be present. Lucy to sort out workshop (recycling, GNU Linux) materials. Arcspace involved (fringe festival) in Futuresonic festival, Lucy send details to list.


Oekonux Conference

The group has £xxx cash. Members agreed that the conference was an enjoyable day.
