About us
The LibrePlanet Alabama team is a group dedicated to the promotion of free software and exploration of computer science as a rewarding and fun discipline. We operate in accordance with the LibrePlanet Mission Statement and Code of Conduct.

Goals
- Educate
- Advocate
- Promote free software tools through projects, campaigns, and events. For more technologically adept members, you can write code for libre software projects at Savannah, the libre alternative to GitHub.
- Supply
- Provide freedom-respecting hardware and increase the availability of free hardware through the h-node project, the Free Software Foundation's hardware database. An alternative idea that Freebilly has for long term goals of the group is to establish a Free Geek chapter in Alabama to create a systematic way of re-purposing hardware for low-income Alabamians and teaching volunteers the inner workings of computers and other cool technological devices. Free Geek appears to be a great organization dedicated to both helping communities as well as fostering a maker culture in Alabama. Also, if you make enough computers you can keep one!
- Support
- Offer local help getting and using free software and hardware. Please communicate using the Discord chat
- Bridge connections between free software activists and computer users in your community. An easy way to help is printing and distributing flyers, posters and stickers provided by the FSF.
