Help the FSF review software licenses
The Free Software Foundation maintains various licenses and comments about them webpage. It includes information about whether a license is free, if it is a copyleft license, if it is compatible with the GPL, and information about any specific practical problems with the license. If there is an existing license that is not listed there, you can submit it for review by following the process explained below.
Before starting the process, please make sure that the license is not in the drafting process. Please do not submit licenses that are generally accepted as non-free. We do encourage submitting licenses that are presented as free but include non-free terms, even if the non-free terms are apparent; we formally review such licenses and warn the public against them.
Please set up a new subpage for the license in the wiki using the template and fill in as many fields of the template to the best of your knowledge. The template includes links to materials that may help you.
Please note that given the number of licenses that we received for review before the process was moved to the public wiki, there is still a backlog of requests that we are working on. We are now in the process of moving these requests to the wiki and we encourage you to help us research them, as we will treat them with priority. For new submissions, we will definitely prioritize licenses that are not specific to a given project and are already used by a substantive number of projects.
