Rules
All LibrePlanet participants including individuals, projects, and teams, must agree with our founding documents. We must work together in accordance with our mission statement, we must act accountable to our code of conduct, and we must follow these rules and guidelines accordingly.
- Our mission statement establishes our motivation and the end goal we are working together towards. The LibrePlanet name should always be strongly associated with our mission.
- Our code of conduct lays out what kind of behavior we must always maintain to ensure we can collaborate effectively and advance an open and productive movement.
- Our rules and guidelines bind all of these principles together so that the LibrePlanet project is a cohesive effort to advance free software.
Those who violate these principles may be banned from group communication channels.

Emphasis
In accordance with LibrePlanet's mission, we should aim to raise the profile of free software while maintaining freedom as the fundamental concern. Technical advantages of free software like GNU/Linux are ancillary. To this end, "Linux" should refer to the kernel, and the operating system referred to as GNU/Linux (GNU plus Linux). Keep the distinction between free software and open source clear.
Software advocacy
When it comes to advocacy through promoting software, bear in mind that recommending GNU/Linux distributions that do not meet the free system distribution guidelines is, very simply, to recommend non-free software, and should be avoided. Always recommend fully free distributions, and individual programs that are distributed under free software licenses. LibrePlanet advocates free software only, and be careful that any advertising used to raise money does not conflict with this.
Fundraising
When fundraising to donate to the FSF, or for a team or project, be clear about where the money is going. Do not give the impression that money they are raising is going to the Free Software Foundation, the GNU Project, or LibrePlanet unless that is actually the case.
Resources
LibrePlanet will strive to provide all the necessary resources to create and operate a group. Groups can certainly also develop and host their own resources, but since our mission is to create a free world, they should not depend on proprietary resources.
