General
I am an activist and incorporate that into everything i do. Free culture and software freedom are most important to me because we live in an age of technology, the information age, the digital age and the future holds two possible prospects for us in which technology can either empower us or enslave us.
Discovering free software
This is a funny story. I was first introduced to computers with Windows 95 and i developed a blind faith in Microsoft. I assumed everything they created was better for no other reason than them having a monopoly. Funnier still, is that loyalty didn't change until Google released Gmail and blew Hotmail, along with everyone else, right out of the water. From there, I found that Google supported Firefox, which was my gateway into open source. I immediately fell in love with the ideals of software freedom and the prospect of all software being free. I began using GNU+Linux when i was 15 years old in late 2006 with Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft and ever since, I have become more and more involved.
Much of my involvement has been with Ubuntu. I am an Ubuntero, and became the youngest official Ubuntu Member (at that time) approved on October 9th, 2007. In the summer of 2010, I was a campaigns intern for the Free Software Foundation, and have been volunteering since. I am now on staff for the campaigns team.
