Minutes of Meeting of 13th June 2011

Introductions

None, everyone knows each other.

Last Meeting

Minutes of last meeting dated 9th May 2011 were approved as correct by Michael and Llewyn. Manchester/2011-05-09/Minutes.

Announcements and other business

Llewyn and Michael thinking savannah is really good and encourage others to join.

Speakers

Llewyn said that Vicky has confirmed for August. Talk will have Free Software angle.

Llewyn has spoken to Mick about doing a talk. Mick is willing to do a talk but will speak to him nearer September about doing a September talk.

Mike asked Llewyn if he would MC the June talk. Llewyn agreed to June and additionally July and August.

ACTION: - Mike to send Llewyn MC ideas.

Manchester University Society

J.P. not present.

ACTION: - J.P. to fill in the forms.

Software Freedom Day 2011

Llewyn said it's on savannah. Sent email to HACMan and ManLUG separately. Vicky has offered to do some workshops on the use of free software and has films from Brazil hack labs. Hopefully get both spaces so can have one for stalls and other floor films and workshop(s). Mike said it should work out. Plan B is move to Hulme.

ACTION: - Llewyn to invite attendees to SFD2011 in Manchester when venue confirmed.

Okay Computer 2

Mike said that he wants Llewyn to represent MFS at the event and Llewyn wants to do this.

Merchandise

Mike said he has the FS, FS 2nd edition books. Having bought the books ourselves this gives us guilt free pricing choice.

Mike has badge maker. Mike said it would be slow but doable. Needs to try and report back.

Mike wants to get distro CDs printed. Llewyn thinks we should self print instead, we should print generic sleeves and Llewyn is happy to create sleeve. Lots of ideas.

ACTION: - Mike to test badge maker.

ACTION: - Mike to create HTML links for proto MFS FS CD.

Promotional Material

Llyewn has sent banner. Sam T has to print out.

Mike has uploaded flyer with licence.

ACTION: - Sam T to print door banner x 2.

ACTION: - Llewyn to licence his poster.

Llewyn wants to reconnect with OKCafe and talk to organisers about using Free Software.

Announcement include key signing again.
