Minutes of Meeting of 8th August 2011

Introductions

None, everyone knows each other.

Last Meeting

Minutes of last meeting dated 4th July 2011 were approved as correct by Michael, Llewyn and Sam T. Manchester/2011-07-04/Minutes.

Announcements and other business

Sam T announces that it is FSFE's PDF readers campaign at Madlab on Saturday.

Anarchist book fair

Llewyn wants to Anarchist bookfair, used details Mike sent him. They haven't got a venue yet in Manchester. They are aiming for late Sept/early Oct. Llewyn will lead, we need get the message to them.

ACTION: - Llewyn to continue to sort out ABF.

Speakers

August 16 is go. Llewyn, has done the wiki and posted to fsuk-manchester list. Vicky to focus on hacklabs and how to connect them. Segways to Freedombox.

September still on for Freedombox.

October for Mick Fuzz? Llewyn say Mick is doing radio on Hackedemia. Llewyn to follow up.

ACTION: - Llewyn to follow up with Mick Fuzz for October talk.

Manchester University Society

J.P. has gone and Luke has left. Will ask Sam V if he is willing to do it.

ACTION: - Mike to chase Sam V about setting up a Man Uni Free Software Soc.

Software Freedom Day 2011

Mike says we are registered and getting goodies. I did a heads up email to last years people.

Llewyn, we should set-up a mailing list. And someone from citycamp would like a table. They were going to do a SFD event themselves but they are going to fold in with us. Arcspace are up for doing workshops. SFD 11am-5pm. So we have upstairs 11am-2pm (start of ManLUG). Downstairs have media station with head phones for videos.

Mike to produce Debian Live CDs.

ACTION: - Llewyn to write down all the great ideas on the SFD wiki page.

ACTION: - Mike to set up SFD2011 in Manchester mailing list.

ACTION: - Mike to rally people for SFD2011 in Manchester.

Merchandise

Mike still has books and will put announcement to list.

Mike still hasn't had change to try the badge maker.

ACTION: - Mike to send announcement list about Merchandise.

Promotional Material

Mike still hasn't done 'webpage' CD.

ACTION: - Mike to do 'webpage' CD.

More other business

It is raining.

Llewyn has 3 things: logo, website, and something else. Website domain would like us to have one. Logo, Llewyn has a logo as alternative to dynamic duo. Llewyn to look into blog.

Something else is venue! Nexus Art Cafe? No alcohol. Consensus is to give it a go.

ACTION: - Llewyn to send logo to Madlab.
