The Kobo Clara HD has a device tree file ([https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/arch/arm/boot/dts/imx6sll-kobo-clarahd.dts imx6sll-kobo-clarahd.dts]) in Linux.

Freescale i.MX6 SLL support has now been [https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Freescale_i.MX6_SLL mainlined].

It's however not complete yet as for instance the display is missing (this would require to port the Freescale/NXP driver to the upstream kernel).

There is a blog [https://anarc.at/hardware/tablet/kobo-clara-hd/ post] that shows how to install various free software on top of the stock OS (which contains nonfree software). The person explaining that installed KOreader, so we can assume that KOreader somehow works with the vendor OS.

There is a blog post that shows how to install various free software on top of the stock OS (which contains nonfree software). The person explaining that installed KOreader, so we can assume that KOreader somehow works with the vendor OS.

There is also an image and install guide available for an OS that would be fully free if it wasn't for nonfree Wi-Fi card software.

There is also a website that explains how to replace the internal microSD.
