Need advice
Hi, I did some editing about 2 weeks ago and John liked it and suggested I join the LibrePlanet-dev mailing list, which I did. I also submitted a tarball to patch the wiki so I could use templates to provide navigation and structure.
However, I have had no feedback on the patches and notice the wiki has been severely restricted, which makes it impossible to use templates effectively.
So my question is, Are you prepared to accept patches and enable the wiki for user development? Blacky 06:08, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Can you unprotect Group:NoJavaScript/Gmail?
Hey,
I was going to make some changes to Group:NoJavaScript/Gmail, but it's protected. Can you remove the protection?
There's nothing in the page's history suggesting that it needs protection, so maybe you did it as a preventive measure. If that's the case, I think it's a bad idea. Wiki's only become productive community projects when they attract lots of contributions and contributors, and protecting pages sends contributors away.
If one really needs a page to be non-editable, it can be published on fsf.org or in a blog entry.
(Another solution to my problem would be to add me to the privileged group, which might be a good idea anyway, but for the wiki to have a chance to gather a community of regular contributors, I think it's a much better idea to unprotect every page unless there's a proven problem and no other solution comes to mind.)
