Details

R is a system for statistical computation and graphics. It consists of a language plus a run-time environment with graphics, a debugger, access to certain system functions, and the ability to run programs stored in script files. It is free software distributed under a GNU-style copyleft, and an official part of the GNU project (“GNU S”). This talk will provide: an introduction to R, discussion of when (and when not) to use R, and a guided tour of it's capabilities with examples.

Robin Gower is director of Infonomics Limited, economic consultant and software developer. Robin has been using R for the past three years providing analysis and visualisation for clients in public, private and social sectors.
