Some older Broadcom WiFi chip work with free software:
- The OpenFWWF firmware is compatible with chips for PCI and PC-card busses and it is present in some broadcom system on a chip (like the one in the WRT54GSv4).
Some newer chips have a builtin rom but more research is needed to understand if there are chips that already work without nonfree software. The WiFiResearch article on Replicant has more detail on that. The top priority is probably to look if there community firmwares for the BCM4330 are 100% free or not.
