Group: Defective by Design/Day Against DRM 2016
Day Against DRM Web Site
The International Day Against DRM is an opportunity to unite a wide range of projects, public interest organizations, web sites and individuals in an effort to raise public awareness to the danger of technology that requires users to give-up control of their computers or that restricts access to digital data and media. This year, we'll be helping individuals and groups work together to create local actions in their communities — actions will range from protesting an unfriendly hardware vendor to handing out informative fliers at local public libraries!
Interested in planning an event? Please join the DRM Elimination crew discussion list. If you're looking for help with the organizing process, don't hesitate to send an email asking if there are others in your area -- the list has people all over the world. Once you've decided to host an event, please add it to this page, along with any necessary contact information. It's good to add it as soon as you have a date and contact info, even if you're still working out the details. Make sure to include the what, where, and when, along with your contact info for potential attendees. For event ideas, see last year's list of events . If you host one, please send photos to info@defectivebydesign.org.

Washington DC: Roaming teach-in for digital freedom
We'll distribute information about DRM in front of the office of the [MPAA](https://www.defectivebydesign.org/topic/mpaa) and [RIAA](https://www.defectivebydesign.org/topic/riaa), major industry groups that coordinate lobbying for laws that support DRM and unjust prosecution of those that circumvent it. Our last stop will be the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, to call attention to DRM's harm on libraries, and celebrate the possibility of a DRM-free future.
Our goal is to use engaging materials get people thinking about the realities of DRM and excited about DRM-free media. Come to do whatever is best for your comfort level - you can hand out info, or take it to the next level and strike up friendly conversations with passersby.
We'll start with a knowledgeshare and sign-making to prepare for teaching others, and celebrate afterwards at Austin Grill (750 E St NW) to talk about DRM activism and share snacks and drinks courtesy of the Free Software Foundation. Milan: Discussions about DRM and Privacy, 8-bit Music party
This year we would like to celebrate the international day against DRM with a infopoint stand about people freedom's restriction through DRM used to control users' actions and malwares created for illecit spy purposes. Those two threats need a double DJ-set with good 8-bit music to exorcise them and sanitize the Web!
