Speakers

Ellie is doing November. We have bonus talk on Gaming Freedom on 28th November.

October, Ellie can't do. Possibly Ric from Swirrl, a company doing data analysis use free software tools and released something under free software. But 30 mins talk but I (mike) can do something. But not confirmed. Also asked Shadowcat systems, perl people, to do a talk, met them at UKUUG/FLOSS UK unconference, emailed them on Sunday not heard back. Back up plan is mike do a talk on copyright. Sam T mentioned government copyright report which favours sharing and democratising(?) copyright reform, see Pirate Party site. Sam T do half an hour on something, Sam T to think on it.

Sam T, talk idea on web analytics including privacy.

FLOSS UK Unconference

Mike attended and represented MFS. Attended a few talks, interesting one on trying to get the BBC to do a programming on the Raspberry Pi for kids. Lot of the Perl North West people and we share a lot in common with them. They are coding sprint, we might want to publicise it.

Software Freedom Day

Turn out could have been better but bad weather didn't help. Leaflets did work, people turned up for the next few days. Variety of people who hadn't heard of free software before. Bob Ham was there and good to see him.

SFD2012. Is Madlab a good venue for SFD? No charge, wifi, power, central. Alternative is stall in a public square. Madlab with better advertising. Leaflet surrounding area earlier because didn't realise how open companies would be to allowing leaflets.
