Introduction

The XGI z9s is supported by Libreboot and Coreboot in the xgi driver.

Unfortunately it was removed after Coreboot 4.12.

The driver was compatible with at least mainboard with the 18ca:0020 PCI IDs.

It's used at least in the following Libreboot compatible mainboards:

  • Asus KFSN4-DRE

Libreboot states that "Only text-mode is known to work, but linux(kernel) can initialize the framebuffer display[...]."[1]

  • Find out if standalone GPU were made with this chip. If so we could probably use it to build complete Libreboot systems with it.
