Bidding guide for the FSF’s Memorabilia Silent Auction

We recommend watching this video, which explains in detail how to place a bid on the LibrePlanet wiki. If you prefer reading over watching, you can find written instructions below.

Requirements

In order to place a bid, you must have a my.fsf.org account. If you do not have an account yet, you can create a member account (requires financial contribution) or a non-member account (gratis).

When placing a bid, you agree to the silent auction terms and conditions, so please read carefully.

Bidding in eight simple steps

• Go to the landing page of the silent auction and click the "Login" button in the upper right corner.
  

• Log in with your my.fsf.org account details.
• Then, click on the image of the item you would like to bid on. A page with detailed information on this auction item will open.
  

• Scroll down to the bottom of the auction item description and click on the link to the bidding page for the item you chose. A page for bidding on this item will open.
  

• Click on the "Edit" button in the field with a blue background on top of the page. The text of the page will be displayed in Wikitext, MediaWiki’s markup language.
• Copy the template that says ' ' 'Name:' ' ' and ' ' 'My bid:' ' '.
• Paste the copied text on the page where it says "please list your name or nickname as well as your bid price below" and add your name or nickname[1] as well as your bid price after the colons.
  

• Press "Save changes" and confirm that your bid appears on the bidding page now.

Please note that grayed-out items are not yet open for bidding, and therefore don’t have a bidding page yet. These items will be unlocked later in the week of March 17–21, 2025.

[1]*Because you are logged in, any name is allowed for bidding. Make sure your details are correct inside your my.fsf.org account so we can contact you. Following the Terms & Conditions of the auction, any name or entry that is offensive in any way will be removed without notice.*

Please don't hesitate to add your bid for an item even if it is lower than a bid someone else put in. We verify bids with some delay. Enjoy the thrill of bidding! We hope you win.
