-->By default, the Group template provides a link to the Project namespace for group projects. All other projects should be a sub-project of this one, and created as subpages. This will ensure maximum use of the project namespace and that each project is uniquely identifiable.

Although a project is owned by a group, it may consist of members from many groups. Generally, a project is a sub-project of another project, so the parent project is responsible for managing the sub-project, not the group itself.

Indeed, the Group Project should regulate the Group's activities, formulating the group's strategies and assessing the group's strengths and weaknesses in its local environment. As a project, its goal is to ensure the group's sustainability, growth, and effectiveness. Group members should participate in both the Group and the Group Project activities. Subprojects, however, may be open to other group members, so some group members need not participate in all group projects.

Currently, there is no provision for collective projects, that is, projects that are formed by several groups and not owned by any one. The LibrePlanet [[Project:LibrePlanet|Project]], however, provides an entry point for the FSF to introduce High Priority Projects, and this Project may determine how to accommodate future collective projects.

The [[LibrePlanet]] group is a dummy group in that its role is to manage the group network, rather than engage in group activities itself. Similarly, its Project is regulated by the FSF through appointed members to the LibrePlanet group. Thus, the LibrePlanet Project defines the network group's mission and the LibrePlanet Group performs the operation and administration functions.
