                               #unconference on irc.oftc.net

Goal:

Organize an unconference for the Sunday after LibrePlanet, so if there are attendees who want to keep talking about free software on Sunday, there is a space to do that.

Theme of the unconference:

Our free software community: what works / what doesn't / what we're working on

Organizing strategy

"Do-ocracy": If you are the first person to secure a venue, then we take that venue.
If you are the first person to write a website and link to it here, then we use yours.
If you are the first person to say that the event is cancelled, we'll reject it. :-P
(though please be open to feedback)
                     etc.

To do: ASAP Figure out a venue (When plan is more solid) Update the LibrePlanet wiki with some notes Just a basic description of the event By Friday afternoon Make a simple website for the event, so that people know where + when Update the LibrePlanet wiki saying the above: http://libreplanet.org/wiki/LibrePlanet2011/Schedule By Friday evening: Create personal emails to people inviting them to come Prepare and print flyers By Saturday daytime Print flyers and cut flyers, so we can hand them out during the conference Put a location map on them Put a phone number on them, so people can call us if they get lost

Venue necessities Near the T Free, reasonably-plentiful wifi Near food, or else we will pass a hat and order food in

Possible venues: Sprout Felipe's favorite venue (he thinks) Next step: Maybe have Felipe visit it, and see if it seems good Also next step: Email them and ask if they would host us MITERS Next step: Figure out who to contact Berkman Asheesh's favorite venue Next step: Email Carey Anderson to see if Berkman can host Current status: I sent the email; waiting to hear back Quasi-random rooms at MIT Next step: Get danjared to do an email introduction between us and SIPB people who will reserve MIT space for us
