Minutes of Meeting of 4th July 2011

Introductions

None, everyone knows each other.

Last Meeting

Minutes of last meeting dated 13th June 2011 were approved as correct by Michael and Llewyn with updates to incorrect dates. Manchester/2011-06-13/Minutes.

Announcements and other business

Llewyn is 'way' behind but Mike said he'd sorted out Madlab for SFD2011 in Manchester.

Speakers

September for Freedombox. Try to have wide appeal. Show what you can do today and in the future.

August, Vicky from Arcspace is committed to doing talk. Will be on Brazil. Mike said to chase her, Llewyn is.

October for Mick Fuzz. Llewyn will chase.

Manchester University Society

J.P. not present. Mike said that J.P. busy and don't think that this will happen. Will ask Sam V if he is willing to do it.

ACTION: - Mike to chase Sam V about setting up a Man Uni Free Software Soc.

Anarchist book fair

Llewyn wants to be there. Mike will send a contact to Llewyn.

ACTION: - Llewyn to invite attendees to SFD2011 in Manchester when venue confirmed.

Software Freedom Day 2011

Llewyn will look at list from last time and contact them about having a stall. They will be fairly hands off with SFD being in their calendar. Possibly do workshops as well.

Sam T would like a table for FSFE.

Mike says that the room is sorted. HacMan and MANLUG are on board and we are booked in. Llewyn asked whether we were downstairs, Mike not sure be will make it so. Registration isn't open.

Merchandise

Mike has books and will put announcement to list.

Mike hasn't had chance to try the badge maker.

Mike has a load of Linux magazines. Great for events.

Promotional Material

Mike hasn't done 'webpage' CD. But what else to put on the CD? What about videos? Sam T suggests 'Close the circle'.

More other business

Badge maker still to do, is cheap ~£20.

Sam T said latest talk have been technical talks and put off people. We should be mindful of it. Discussion was had about what type of talks to have.
